Welcome to Naples!
Naples, southernmost of the small cities on Florida's west coast,
is situated just as the north-south Interstate-75 becomes the
east-west Alligator Alley, putting the Miami/Fort Lauderdale
metroplex within a 2-hour drive across the Everglades. From any
direction, Naples skies seem brighter and sands become whiter when
approaching this southwest corner of upscale civilization so very
near the swamp wilderness. Haunting cries of the gulls and salt air
are part of the Gulf shoreline experience.
With Gulf shores calmer than the Atlantic shoreline, Naples area resorts
are closer to the water, flanked by inviting stretches of undeveloped shoreline
-- such lack of habitation all but gone on the east coast. Golf, tennis
and eco-touring are popular here, and Naples’ cosmopolitan shops cater to the
many Europeans making this a favored destination. Whatever length your stay,
chances are you won’t forget the relaxation brought on by Naples’ Gulf
breezes and seagulls.
